MUSLIM RESPONSES TO FATWA BY ITALIAN MUSLIM ASSOCIATION EXCOMMUNICATING LOUIS FARRAKHAN AND HIS NATION
OF ISLAM
August 9, 1998, Root & Branch:
The following are a selection of responses by Muslims - received by Prof. Abdul Hadi Palazzi, Secretary General
of the Italian Muslim Association - to the Italian Muslim Association's fatwa excommunicating Louis Farrakhan and his
Nation of Islam.
From Australia:
Assalamu Alaikum, Brothers:
We are your brothers from Australia, in
Nida'ul Islam [Appeal to Islam] Magazine. We are very
interested in receiving the Fatwa which was issued by your
organisation concerning the NOI [Nation of Islam]. Can you
please fax us or email us the Arabic version of that Fatwa?
Our fax number is: (61-2) 9740 7921
May Allah reward you,

From Nigeria:
As a Muslim, I have really been touched by
what I have just read. By what the person called Farrakhan
has confessed and done to "his" people. I then
remembered one of my language students from South Africa who
once said:
"Harry, if you want to be 'really' rich,
one thing you can do is to 'create a new religion'."
"How come?" I asked.
"By creating a new religion, or a new
sect within the existing religion, any one, and by
instilling, implanting all the 'nonsense' beliefs into stupid
minds, the foolish brains of 'your' people, you can ask them
to do anything, 'just anything', you want. This will include
an order for them bring you everything they have, even their
life."
I wonder now, if this person [Farrakhan] has
heard and then implemented such a teaching. Or maybe he is a
disciple of my language student???
Anyway, there are always groups of people,
lead by 'DEVILs', who try to make use of our religion for
purely their own sake and ambition (or obsession). Not only
in the United States, not only in the Middle East, but also
in our country...... or just every where..... in every
generation.....Masyaallah...........[God permitted so - a
traditional exclamation while reporting bad things].
I would be more than grateful if you could
give me more information on their programme (or plots???)
Wassalamu'alikum warrahmatullahi
wabarrakatuh......

From the United States:
AsSalamu Alaykum:
Thank you for your fatwa on the NOI (The
Nation Of Islam). Please inform me of your view concerning
the Shiites (School Of Imam Jafar Sadiq of Twelvers) [School
of Imam Sadiq - Twelvers or Imamitites are synonymous with
the most important Shiite sect. It is Iran's official
religion]
I await your reply. Masalam [a slang for
wassalam]

From an Unspecified Country:
As Salaamu Alaikum: I heard a report that the
Nation Of Islam under the leadership of Louis Farrakhan is
Attempting to Make the Haj [pilgrimage to Mecca] with a
10,000 member delegation this year, 1998 C.E. (1418 A.H. -
After the Haj). Who can you stop them?
From Indonesia:
Assalamu alaikum wr wb:
Sorry, Professor, this posting was actually
sent to the Islam email list in Indonesia, but I also sent it
to you to inform you that we also listen to the news you
release. I would like to know more about what is going on
with Nation of Islam and its leader Louis Farrakhan. He came
to Indonesia some time ago and was welcomed by the Muslim community here. We don't know much about what happens in the
United States and would like to know more. Send my best
regards to all Muslim brothers and sisters there.

From Canada:
Alhumduallah! [Praise to God]
As Salaam Alaikum:
It's about time someone realized that they
are not of us. Farrakhan should not be allowed to flaunt
himself as the leader of American Muslims or even
African-American Muslims. Because Farrakhan never brings up
his extra beliefs (Farad as God, Elijah as Prophet) when
abroad speaking to Muslims of other countries, they [Muslims
abroad] never know that they [the Nation of Islam] are
spreading Shirk [Shirk is polytheism or idol worship].
As Salaam Alaikum.
Peace and Blessings to You.

Dear Brothers:
Assalamo alaikum Alhamdo li Allah [praise to
God] that there are still Muslims making an effort to
distinguish right from wrong.
Jazakum Allah khairan [may God reward you for
your good action]
Your brother in Islam,
Said Alaoui
